This is of 3 row boats that are Clinker Built. Clinker is a method were the planks are attached so that the bottom edge of a plank is placed over the previous one. It creates a type of stepped side to the boat.
It is a distinctive shape, and each plank is fastened to vertical ribs inside of the boat.
When I was growing up in a small fishing village on NSW north Coast, all the boats were built from timber. it was only later that Fiberglkass and aluminium became less expensive and popular.
