The Lace Garden by Lucinda Leveille is a floral inspired watercolour piece on Saunders rough paper.
I always seem to be drawn back to flowers in the landscape when I pick up my watercolours and of course my favourite flower is Queen Anne Lace. I adore the little white lacey groups of flowers on their delicate long stems as the lift their faces up to the sun. They seem to rise above the rabble and crush of the garden at ground level. The process for these works has many steps - first you draw the images then using masking fluid you cover the linework, carefully paint the background and adjust the darks and lights with watercolour pigments and finally remove the masking fluid to leave the white of the paper. I think this might be one of my new favourite colour combinations too !
As with all of my works, this is an original and a one of a kind, I do not make prints from any of my works.
